When the opening scene of a movie consists of a man single-handedly killing a militia of armed men with ease, while elusively evading death, I am going to be drawn right in. What makes it even flashier, is that this man is wearing a full red body suit.

And no, I’m not talking about Spider Man.

Deadpool is a hero with a constant and relentless sense of humor, creating hilarious and outrageous scenes. With Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as his love interest (Copycat), Jed Rees as the recruiter, and Ed Skrein playing Ajax (or the man who gives Deadpool his powers), a very high quality of acting is portrayed through the movie.

Deadpool and Copycat fall madly in love when he gets news that there is a terrible cancer spreading throughout his body. After all hope was gone of him living, a strange man approaches him and tells him that he can cure his cancer, as well as give him powers any man would dream of. This offer was not a lie, but for it to come true, extreme measures are taken; and even that’s a euphemism.

There are also scenes so dramatic and unexpected all I could do was drop my jaw. After Deadpool got his powers, an enormous fight scene between him and Ajax erupts. It was very intense and gruesome, by the end Deadpool has been impaled, and left in a fiery building.

Through all of this craziness, he still finds ways to make jokes out of pretty much everything thrown his way. His flippant personality type makes for ridiculous scenes, creating the whole theater to burst out into laughter.

At one point, Deadpool was put in a situation to which he believed his only way out was to cut off his hand. After calmly chopping off his hand, he had to wait for it to grow back. His hand had to go quickly (but not too quickly) through the stages of development. Let’s just say that the sight of a grown man with hand of an infant is incredibly disturbing, yet incredibly funny. Though he isn’t too much of a hero, one things stays true throughout the movie; he kicks butt, and that’s all a lot of people really need.

But for any people who love romance, that is included in the movie also, if that’s what you want to call it. Along with intense action and original humor, Deadpool is a movie that really impressed me and is interesting for almost anybody (this movie is rated R, so viewer discretion is advised).

The perfect balance between comedy and action is what made this movie different for me, and what gives it it’s original quality many crave. Along with many other people, I wait in anticipation of a follow up Deadpool movie; hopefully we’re not waiting for nothing.
